Dr. Melvin Harter was Honored in 1977 at age 27 by being listed in "Who's Who In Religion" In 1980, at age 30, he was once again honored by being listed in "Outstanding Young Men of America" In 1984, Dana G. Rinehart, Mayor of the City of Columbus, Ohio proclaimed September 28, 1984 as ROSE HILL ROAD CHURCH OF GOD DAY, a church where Dr. Harter pastored for 11 years and at the time of this special proclamation was 34 years old. Likewise in 1984, Dr. Harter was  recognized by The Ohio House of Representatives. A quote from a special document states: "Under the capable leadership of the Reverend Melvin E. Harter, the church will undoubtedly continue to grow in spirit and in stature, and will assume an even more dynamic role as a spritual focal point in the Reynodsburg area."   Dr Melvin Harter has an earned doctoral degree.  He served as a professor in two major colleges. Dr. Harter does not boast in himself of his accomplishments.  He declares that anything he has done, has been brought about by Jesus Christ.  Dr. Harter states, "I give all the glory and honor to Him who has saved me and redeemed me from my sins and whom I call Lord & Saviour.  His name is JESUS CHRIST!"
